Possible Winged Glimmerdrop (droppings) Found in Sonoma County

Lucky and clever sonoma county resident, Teresa, sent us the following image and report:

Here is a report of a magical orbeez appearance our Petaluma patio. What do you suppose they could be? We think either eggs or droppings.

The materials in this photo were not unfamiliar to My Town is Magical, as you can see in the response that we sent to Teresa and her family:

Teresa -

Thanks so much for getting in touch with My Town is Magical.

This small-gem scattering / appearance is something that we have witnessed before!
We are attaching a page from our research journal.

Your conclusions are very much along the same lines as ours regarding the purpose or function of these mysterious gems.

We have conducted research along most every line, and despite all of our incubation attempts (warm/cold/hot/boiling water/in the freezer/under a pillow/snuck under the chickents/etc) we have yet to hatch a gem.

We have also conducted extensive research along the lines of the mysterious gems being seeds or seed pods of some sort.
We have planted them in every imaginable substance (flour, dirt, water, mud, rocks, spaghetti, dirty laundry, etc) and watered them with everything we could think of (water, warm water, cold water, hot chocolate, maple syrup, melted ice cream, vinegar, gasoline, etc.). We did not see a single sprout.

Our conclusion, then, is that these gems could be the detritus of some magical creature, rather than a seed or egg.
Our current theory runs in two directions - either the stuffed scales of a (rather large) Gem-Scaled Serpent, or the droppings (scat, if you prefer) of a Flying Glimmerdrop.

Both of these theories are hazy guesses at best.
Please let us know if this is at all helpful, and - of course - keep us updated should there be any further developments.

We are attaching the corresponding page from our field notes for your reference.
